The Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) together with the Department of Energy (DoE) launched BERDE (Building for Ecological Responsive Design) Version 1.1.0 as well as BERDE for Operations Version 1.0.0 on 26 March during Building Green 2013 held at the New World Hotel in Makati.
BERDE is the Philippines’ Voluntary Green Building Rating System adopted under the Philippine Energy Efficiency Project – Efficient Building Initiative (PEEP-EBI) of the DoE. BERDE is the Green Building Rating system of PHILGBC. PHIL GBC is a member of the World Green Building Council, the largest global Green Building Council and represented in more than 90 countries worldwide.
The BERDE rating system is broken down in three major categories: BERDE for New Construction, BERDE for Retrofits and Renovation and BERDE for Operations. New Construction and Retrofits and Renovations are each divided in four subcategories: Commercial Buildings, Vertical Residential Development, Clustered Residential Development and Educational Institutions.
